It was reported by the ‘Dawn: Images’ that recently Nisha Rao became the first transgender to gain admission at the University of Karachi’s, Pakistan, M.Phil programme.
It is unfortunate that the transgender community in Pakistan are treated as outcastes. Similar fate befell Nisha as well. Nisha left home at the tender age of 18 and had to beg to survive. However, Nisha used the alms collected through begging to pay for her law college.
Currently, Nisha is enrolled as an advocate at the Karachi Bar Association.
