Tibetan Monk jailed for spreading Dalai Lama Teachings

A Tibetan monk of around 50 years old was sentenced to 1 year in prison by Chinese authorities. The Tibetan Post, states that he was sentenced due to sharing of the teachings of both the Dalia Lama (the highest spiritual leader of Tibet) and Dr Lobsang Sangay (the president of the central Tibetan Administration), as well as photos of Tibet independence and Tibetan national flag on social media. Sharing the Dalai Lamas teachings as well as Tibetan freedom is frowned upon and punishable by law in Tibet. Tashi Gyal’s arrest was related to the monks past sharing’s of Tibetan freedom on social media between 2014-2015.
