An exact amount of 4,614,283 dollars has been raised in just two weeks to provide help for communities in Gaza. RLAF, also known as Rahmatan Lil Alamin Foundation, raised this amount of money for the first time (Wallace Woon).
As the deadline for collection is extended until the 17th of November, the total amount is anticipated to increase further by the end of the period. RLAF is collaborating with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East for this fund-raiser. The money will be used for healthcare supplies and shelters and to provide aid in general for the ones affected by the war between Israel and Hamas (Wallace Woon).
A closer look at the situation:
Hamas launched an unpredicted assault on Israel from the Gaza Strip on the 7th of October, killing around 1,400 people in Israel. Israel reacted to this assault by bombing Gaza with air strikes and additionally launched a ground offensive, which killed more than 10,500 Palestinians (BBC News).
The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) warplanes are all over Gaza while its troops and tanks are moving forward on the grounds of Gaza. Israel’s Prime Minister declined the call for a ceasefire (BBC News).
Singapore Red Cross
The Red Cross in Singapore sent 200,000 USD of relief supplies to the Gaza Strip to aid those who are affected. The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is growing (Singapore Red Cross).
The CEO of the Singapore Red Cross said that he is perturbed about the suffering that the people in Gaza have to undergo. He stated that children, families, and women are enduring unthinkable difficulties (Singapore Red Cross).
