Tanzila Khan, a women’s rights campaigner in Pakistan and winner of the inaugural Amal Clooney Women’s Empowerment award, had an important speech in favor of women’s rights. She yelled that this mainstream culture did not represent her, so she created her own space. Acknowledging that in Pakistan you can find women who have never left the house or gone to school, she started to readdress these imbalances through different actions. For instance, she wrote a short comedy film, addressing four aspects of life for a young woman as a wheelchair-user: education, employment, entrepreneurship and love (Kelly, 2022). Moreover, she even launched her own organization, which deliver menstrual, reproductive health and maternity products to women anonymously (Kelly, 2022).  She noticed that men are not always so opposed to these topics, letting her thinking that the society is evolving.

Last week, she kept a beautiful speech, launching a message to other young women: “the world is yours, whatever you want to do, just do it. Be bold. Step up and own it.” (Kelly, 2022).
