An eight-year-old speech-impaired girl was raped by teenagers in Chapainawabganj where all the arrestees were teenagers.
Three teenagers were arrested by the police for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Chapainawabganj. According to the father of the victim, while returning home after performing the Tarawih prayer at a nearby mosque, the victim was raped by Sakhawat Hossain (19), Abdur Rahman (14), and Babu Mia (13) in turns at a nearby mango orchard. The incident came to light after the victim shared her ordeal with her parents. The victims father filed a case with Shibganj Police Station (Dhaka Tribune, 2025).
The incident took place on Thursday night, March 14th, and on Friday, the locals detained the perpetrators and handed them over to the police. According to Golam Kibria, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shibganj police station, the victim was admitted to Chapainawabganj District Hospital for treatment and the three accused were produced before the court (The Daily Star, 2025).
