The European Commission launched its “The EU Roadmap for Women’s Rights: a renewed push for gender equality”, a bold step towards gender equality in the region.
On March 8th, International Women’s Day, the European Commission launched “The EU Roadmap for Women’s Rights: a renewed push for gender equality”. The document reinforces their commitment to gender equality. The new Roadmap focuses on key areas, namely freedom from gender-based violence, equal pay, economic empowerment, and political participation.
The document builds upon the previous Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025, which has observed several evolutions in areas such as pay transparency, gender balance on company boards, and combatting violence against women. The roadmap is complemented by the newly published 2025 Report on Gender Equality in the EU, which underscores areas needing further action, from which the roadmap aims to tackle.
