Two sisters in Maharashtra, India alleged that their husbands divorced them as one of them failed to pass a ‘virginity test’. This happened after one of the women failed to pass the patriarchal “white sheet” test which is used to determine whether a woman is a virgin or not. It has been alleged that the in-laws had been violent with one of the sisters by pinching her and hitting her on her face.
