A recently released UN Women report warns against the rising discrimination, violence, and rollback against women and girls worldwide.

Ahead of International Women’s Day, UN Women released a report titled “Women’s Rights in Review 30 Years After Beijing”. Despite the noteworthy progress made over the past 30 years, challenges persist as the report highlighted the “unprecedented growing threats worldwide” (UN Women, 2025) for women and girls, with nearly one in four countries reporting setbacks in the last year, 2024. It should be acknowledged that, the report emphasised the increasing vulnerability of women and girls, particularly in conflict zones and during and after global crises like the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change crisis.

The report introduced the “Beijing+30 Action Agenda”, which set key priorities, including equal access to digital technology, eliminating violence against women and girls, improving social protections, and advancing women’s leadership in peace and security efforts.
