During the Hindu celebration of Durga Puja happened in Bangladesh on the 14th of October, Hindu temples were attacked by a mob. The violence involved the destruction and damage of idols and four people were killed, 18 people injured and 40 people were arrested during the riots (Manmath Nayak, 2021). The Indian ministry claimed immediate action from the Bangladeshi government to stop the Hindu persecutions in Bangladesh and restore a safe environment for Hindu minorities (WION, 2021). The tension due to the religious celebration spread throughout the entire country, where Hindu properties such as stores, households, and temples were severely vandalized. (Dhaka Tribune, 2021)
