Villagers in Sese, Zimbabwe protests against mining exploration activities

The villagers of Sese, a village situated in the Chivi District, southeast in Zimbabwe staged a protest demanding an immediate halt to the Murowa Diamond Company’s exploration activities. The villagers want the company to leave their village, as they accuse the company of overstaying in the area and land degradation. Moreover, the villagers stated that their livelihoods are under threat as the company continues to explore the area. Until Murowa leaves the villager’s ancestral home, the protests are going to be pressed ahead. Besides the mining exploration, the villagers are worried about the safety of their children as the drillings are near a primary and high school, where children attend classes every day.
