UN Secretary General, António Guterres, has recalled the devastation cause by weather related disasters in Mozambique.

On his statement, the Secretary General drew attention to the fact that the Southern hemisphere has been particularly affected by the effects of climate change, without bearing the responsibility of those changes. Mozambique has been repeatedly hit by destructive storms since 2019, causing widespread devastation. Further, the UN chief recalled that the country is also being affected by conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic, causing an escalating humanitarian crisis, urging the international community to support the country and step up the humanitarian response.
