Violence against trans people is not only rising but also assuming more severe forms of abuse and discrimination. Only in March, five trans women were killed and to pay homage and protest a rally was held in the capital Islamabad. (The Guardian, 2022)
Although the Supreme Court recognised transgender people as “the third gender” back in 2012, the discrimination against this minority never stopped - honour killings, rape, blackmail, sexual harassment, attacks are still common in present days.
The líder of Trans-Action Alliance reported that “Since 2015, 91 transgender women were killed in the province and we have 2,000 registered cases of violence on the transgender community just in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.” (The Guardian, 2022)
