On the 5th of October 2021, The ministry for social welfare has announced to provide shelter homes for transpersons in the province of Punjab. This was done during a ceremony where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by representatives of the Department of Social Welfare and Development of Communication. 

The ministry stated the effort of the Punjab Government to establish shelter homes and educational and skills training for Transgender Persons. This could be established due to public funds received, which the ministry ensured to use transparent. These developments could resolve various social issues of the Transgender Community, who experience violence and have been discriminated.
