School Teacher Arrested for Alleged Rape of Fifth-Grade Student in Thakurgaon

A government primary school teacher has been arrested for allegedly raping a fifth-grade student during private lessons in Thakurgaon.

School teacher Mozammel Haque Manik was arrested by the police on the charge of raping a fifth-grade student in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. According to the case report, the victim went to school for private lessons at around 10:00 am, and at around 11:15 am, the accused ended the class for everyone. However, Manik called the victim back to school and raped her in the school room. He threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident (Prothom Alo, 2025).

Locals claim that various schemes are being used to protect the accused. Influential politicians in the village took the child to a private clinic instead of sending her to the government hospital to cover up the incident. However, when the victim was secretly brought to the private clinic with the intention of destroying evidence, the locals rescued the victim and her family and took her to a government hospital (Dhaka Tribune| বাংলা, 2025).

Jayanta Kumar Saha, the on-duty doctor at Thakurgaon General Hospital, said, “The child was admitted to the hospital’s gynecology department. She was treated and underwent a physical examination. After the reports come, we will be able to confirm whether it was actually rape or not” (Dhaka Tribune| বাংলা, 2025).
