Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Director-General meets Ireland’s Foreign Minister

On 1st July 2021, an online meeting was held between the Director-General of the OPCW and the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defense in which they discussed how the Chemical Weapon Convention (CWC) could be implemented and improved. They discussed the use of chemical weapons in Syria and the efforts of the organization and the international community to counter it, but also the promotion of the peaceful use of chemistry. The Irish Minister reiterated Ireland’s commitment to supporting the elimination of chemical weapons and preventing impunity, a commitment already demonstrated over the years including through several voluntary contributions.
