Nigeria: Communications cut between families and abducted Greenfield University Students

0

On April 18, 2021, bandits invaded the Greenfield University in Kaduna State, northern Nigeria, and abducted 22 students and staff. Initially, the bandits demanded N800 million to release the students, having killed five students during the negotiation process. Parents are getting increasingly worried because the communications with the abductors have halted on May 8, 2021, when the bandits demanded N10 million ransom on each of the 16 students and staff of Greenfield University. The federal Government, the Kaduna State government and security agencies in Nigeria, have come under criticism for failing to bring the abducted students to security.
