Pakistani National Security Council, the top security body formed by civil and military leaders, has rejected the allegations by the former PM Imran Khan over the involvement of the United States in the no-confidence vote which ousted Khan from power. Khan, indeed, immediately after the vote had accused Washington of support a conspiracy to remove him. Moreover, after these accusations by the former PM, he also visited Moscow, giving a precise message to the US.
Nevertheless, the office of the new PM Sharif, released a statement indicating that the National Security Committee (NSC) chaired by the PM himself, has reviewed the assessment received by Khan, but it concluded that there has been no conspiracy (Aljazeera, 2022). The NSC continued saying that the country’s spy agencies found no evidence to support the conspiracy theory sustained by the former PM.
Khan, however, is still trying to polarize the society, continuing to air his conspiracy allegation in three public rallies and he will keep another one in May (Aljazeera, 2022). Khan, sustained by thousands of demonstrators, really push to have fresh elections.
