Mauritania Shows Support to Palestine

Wednesday, 19th of May, large demonstrations in solidarity with the Palistininans occurred in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania (africanews 2021). It went well and peacefully, organised by opposition parties, civil organisations and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) (africanews 2021). They were asking the UN to take actions to ameliorate the situation in Palestine (africanews 2021). In 2009, Mauritania stopped having diplomatic exchanges with the country of Israel because of the Palestinain situation (africanews 2021). They defend the rights of the Palestinians and the protests went well without any violence neither from the police nor from the protesters (africanews 2021).
