Ms. Faustina Urassa, the director general of the local Songambele Community-based organization helping students with disabilities, said that there are recently many challenges for students with disabilities, mainly studying and accessing education due to the lack of friendly infrastructure in schools. Ms. Urassa’s NGO handed over a donation of seven wheelchairs to students with disabilities. Missing infrastructure in schools such as toilets, right paths for wheelchairs and sports infrastructure are currently lacking in Tanzanian schools. Ms. Urassa appealed to the government to have a ‘fresh look’ on people with disabilities to equip them to being independent.
