Iran calls for international response to 'apartheid' Israel

Iranian officials call on the United Nations and fellow Muslim countries to take action against ‘apartheid’ Israel from attacking Palestine. Moreover, a top military commander has pledged that Iran will stand by the Palestinians.

In a letter addressed to UN-Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the High Council of Human Rights of Iran asks for action against ‘genocidal acts’ and ‘racial cleansing’ committed by Israel. The council furthermore calls on the UN to recognize that Israel is ‘committing crimes against humanity and war crimes’.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani discussed the issue with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan during a phone call, stating that Iran and Turkey must stand together as major players in the region in urging the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to fight the ‘crimes of the Zionist regime’.
