International cooperation and action on labour: the international labour organization in Sao Tome and Principe
(Neto, 2021)

The International Labour Organization is an International Organism of the United Nations System. The agency of the ILO is especially known by its action on the Right to Fair Labor, the fight against modern slavery, and related topics on Human Rights. Being the only tripartite UN agency and one of the older ones, since 1919, the ILO brings together governments, employers and workers of 187 member States.

The action of the Organization in the countries, especially those where slavery and human rights violations related to the working sphere are high. Following this, Sao Tome and Principe’s government organized an important event with the support and sponsorship of the ILO. In the event, topics such as business, entrepreneurship and innovation were addressed, which is extremely important to a country’s development and enrichment (Neto, 2021).

The event was in a contest format, receiving many young people from all parts of the country. According to the Labour Minister, the contest is a competition where topics like innovation, new ideas, entrepreneurship, and management are in the centre of the discussion of Sao Tome and Principe’s development.
