The National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKB) confirmed that the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the prevalence of stunting in children.

BKKB has outlined three programs to accelerate the reduction of stunting in Indonesia; the National Action Plan for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction aims to prioritize the prevention of stunting. The second program is an incubation program called Critical Success Factor, which will ensure the married couple are ready to have children. The third program has the purpose of developing an accurate data information collection system, surveillance assistance for the families at risk of stunting and conducting an audit of stunting cases.

The programs will be targeted to toddlers, teenagers, future brides and gromes as well as pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
