Amnesty International revealed in virtual report of 2020 and 2021 that the human rights situation was affected badly by the Covid-19 pandemic. Referring to Malaysia, AI mentioned that the measures to fight the virus brought up oppressive laws that degraded human rights further. The report accuses the Malaysian government of power abuse. Especially, the human rights activism in the government has almost come to a halt. The report also included more detailed information about the situation of LGBT people, migrants, indigenous people, and the freedom of expression and assembly.
