"Human Rights For Children": Cndhc Consults With Partners On Adaptation Of The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights

The National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC), a Cape Verdean organization that acts as a focal point for the protection and promotion of human rights in the country, held a final meeting earlier this month to approve its latest project. 

The meeting in question focused on the final proposal of the project ''Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Children'', which is the adaptation of the 30 articles of the document for children between 5 and 10 years old. The initiative also included the participation of representatives from other public and private institutions that work with issues related to youth and children. Here we highlight the Ministry of Education and the organization SOS Children's Villages Cape Verde.
This initiative is part of a larger project implemented by the CNDHC, called "Human Rights for Children". Its goal is to create materials and favorable conditions for the teaching of human rights in the formal education system in Cape Verde. Also according to the organization, its intention is to contribute to a greater culture of respect and practice of human rights in Cape Verde, laying the foundations for children to internalize these principles so that they become adults who are aware of and respect human rights. 

The project, which is funded by PlanBørnefonden, also refers to the attributions of the CNDHC in the educational area. Mainly article 5 of its statute.
