Hindu family ‘tortured’ of getting water from a mosque in Khan, Pakistan

In an incident which happened a few days prior, Alam Ram Bheel, a resident of Basti Kahoor Khan and a member of the Hindu community, was picking raw cotton with his family members when they decided to obtain water form a mosque tab. Some village landlords were not happy with what they were seeing and allegedly tortured the family and held them hostage for “violating the sanctity” of the mosque. Luckily, Muslim resident got the family released.

Unfortunately, the Airport police station did not register a case against the village landlords because they were related to a local PTI parliamentarian. Furious, Alam Ram Bheel sat outside the police station with other villagers, protesting the highhandedness of the police. They subsequently approached the PTI MNA Javed Warriach who helped them in lodging a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 154 (owner or occupier of land on which an unlawful assembly is held), 379 (theft), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed prosecution of common object) of the Pakistan Penal Code (Haq, 2021).
