France: News security law risks dystopian surveillance state
The Fight against France's controversial global security law isn't over yet. Under the original bill, anyone sharing photos or recordings of Police Officers could face up to a year in Prison and  45,000 in fines. Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in France since November 2020 to oppose the proposed law.
While those defending the bill, known as Article 24, says it is aimed at people "harming the physical or psychological integrity" of the police, opponents have raised major concerns about the impact on civil liberties and press freedom.
