ECHR decides that compulsory vaccines for children are not a human right violation

Last Thursday, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that integrating mandatory vaccinations for children in the Czech Republic within national policy does not violate Article 8 of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR). Under the Public Health Protection Act, children can be excluded from pre-school if they have not been vaccinated in the Czech Republic. This case goes back to the 2013-2015 period when parents who were fined for not vaccinating their children submitted ECHR complaints. This decision is highly relevant because, in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, similar policies might be implemented in the future. Nicholas Hervieu, an ECHR legal expert, says that this decision initiated a similar discussion in the case of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
