Deplorable state of roads in Zimbabwe

The Zimbabwean Government has stated during a session of the Parliament on June 21,2021 that the state of roads and bridges across the country was in urgent need of reconstruction due to the years of neglect, adding to the continuous rains in the country for the past months. The Ministry of Transport’s permanent secretary, Kudzanai Chiyanga stated that several roads and bridges in the country have ‘outlived’ their design and are suffering from heavy potholing, cracking, and rutting among other visible failure modes. The Government of Zimbabwe is expected to work on the rehabilitation of the roads immediately.
