Christians represent 1.6 % of the population in Pakistan, making them one of the largest minority groups in the country. Unfortunately, the Christian community is regularly subjected to gross human rights violations. Not only do they get often accused of false blasphemy cases, resulting in their imprisonment. Christian girls are often subjected to forced conversion and marriage to a Muslim man. In general, the whole Christian group face the danger of excessive violence targeted against them, resulting in mental, physical damage and even death. Our partner organization OPCA recently covered a brutal act against a Christian boy named Shahzad Masih. The boy was tortured and raped for several days. This inhuman act of violence reached its climax when the kidnappers stuck a pipe in the boys' back hole, filling it with gas, which ultimately led to Shazad Masih's death.
One might ask why this brutal act of violence? The answer is simple because he is a Christian boy in Pakistan.
