China places Dutch MP on the sanctions list

Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, a Dutch member of the parliament for D66, which stands for Democrats 66, has been placed on China’s sanctions list. This represents China’s response to the European Union’s sanctions against the communist government’s treatment of the Uighur Muslim minority. According to the BBC, there are 12 million Uighurs in China, living in the north-western part of the country. The Dutch MP has been vocal about China’s treatment and called for the cancellation of the Olympic winter games, scheduled to be taken place in China.
