At the Geneva forum’s 4th consecutive meeting between November 1 and 2, Penpa Tsering, CTA (Central Tibetan Administration) president, expressed his solidarity with the Tibetan living inside Tibet as part of his inaugural speech. Along with the CTA head, Budapest’s Deputy Mayor of 1st district, Swiss MP Nicolas Walder, Czech Senator Jiří Oberfalzer were present at the inaugural address. The forum highly criticised the worsening human rights condition in Tibet along with abuse happening in East Turkestan, Hong Kong and Macau, among other occupied regions. Penpa Tsering in his keynote speech also pointed out United Nations’ continued apathy towards Tibet issue by stating that “there is a certain feeling that the UN is a little undemocratic in its functioning”. Apart from that, a special panel was also held focusing on the issue of 11th Panchen Lama Gedhun Choekyi Nyima who urged international communities as well as the panellists to hold China accountable for the enforced disappearance of prominent spiritual figure. The central theme of this year's forum was on “Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Violations by China”.
