BIODIVERSITY IN FOCUS: CABO VERDE’S PRESIDENT AND THEIR VIEW ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

Cabo Verde’s president, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, considers that the environment and biodiversity are important topics to be treated with priority by the government. He also shows his concern about the connections between environmental preservation and economic-growth, which is good for the country, especially because of his availability and disposition to increase the country’s sustainability.

This tendency of availability to environmental issues and related topics is very important to be shown by a president, especially during these times of pandemic and the final straight to the 2030 Agenda accorded in the United Nations. As the president said, Cabo Verde reveals itself as a player in this field, not just being worried about climate change and environmental preservation, but also investing in rethinking its Sustainable Economic Development Plan.
