Bahraini prisoners allege brutal crackdown in response to Covid protest

In early April, prisoners in Bahrain's Jau prison held a sit-in for 10 days in protest against a lack of medical treatment and in fear of their health. They claim that authorities regularly delay or deny vital medical care. Since late March, an outbreak of Covid-19 has spread through the prison and right groups claim that the security system failed to prevent the outbreak. This is however not admitted by the prison authorities. Moreover, they are also accused of violently cracking down on the protests in the prison.
