Azali Assoumani has been the Comorian leader for almost 10 years. He obtained his power through a putsch and at the time the country stayed quite democratic. In 2019, he was elected again and he reinforced his power and conservative traditions. The country started to stand in opposition to the Western values. The authorities also started to fight the political opposition and the current president, Azali, does not plan to leave his leading position soon because he wants to keep it till at least 2030.
