A small truck blew up at an outer gate to Yemen’s international airport, Aden. At least 12 people have been killed, and more have been seriously injured. The Prime Minister, Mueen Abdulmalek Saeed, has describer it as a terrorist attack. No one has claimed responsibility yet. Security sources reported that the truck was carrying petroleum products. Local media have noted that the Aden’s former governor was arriving at the airport, and the attack may have corniced with his arrival.

In Yemen, Aden is the home of the internationally recognised government, which is backed by Saudi Arabia. For more than six years, they have been fighting the Iran-aligned Houthi group. Additionally, there have been tensions within Aden, between the government and the southern separatist groups.

Earlier this month, at least six people were killed by a car bomb which was targeting a convoy carrying the city’s governor.

It is reported that the fighting has triggered the world’s worst humanitarian disaster, leaving more than 110,000 people dead and millions on the brink of famine.
