Showcasing violence against women, a disturbing video of a woman being tortured over superstition has gone viral. Meanwhile, another woman became the victim of public assault over political tensions and another was shot dead in Narsingdi.
A video of a 45 year old woman in Jashore being tortured by cutting off her hair and putting ink on her face while being tied to a pole has spread over Facebook. In the video, the victim was forcefully held down by four women belonging to different age groups as one cut the victim’s hair. However, the victim was tortured based on superstition as she was accused of performing black magic tricks (Dhaka Tribune | বাংলা, 2025).
Moreover, on February 5th, 2025, while demolishing the residence of Bangabandhu in Dhanmondi 32, a woman was physically harassed and attacked by the distressed public. The middle-aged woman engaged in an argument with the distressed public in favour of the Awami League. Eventually, the argument escalated into violence when the crowd physically attacked and harassed her (The Daily Star | বাংলা, 2025).
Lastly, in Srinagar, Raipura, Narsingdi, Shanta Islam, the wife of the union chairman’s cousin was shot dead as she tried to protect the house from miscreants. According to the relatives of the deceased, Sohel Mia attacked the house because of the previous enmity and to establish dominance in the area (Dhaka Tribune | বাংলা, 2025).
