A possibility of a war and economic crimes court intensely debated in Liberia

The Liberian Senate announced that they had reached a quorum number of senators, enabling them to address important legislative issues, including the intensely debated topic of establishing a war and economic crimes court in Liberia. The establishment of the court has been a longstanding issue in the Senate of Liberia since September 2019. President George Weah has mentioned his willingness to cooperate regarding the court's establishment. The war and economics court would tackle the crimes that took place in the Liberian Civil War (1989-2003). There had been several petitions regarding the establishment of this war and economic crimes court from citizens, such as the petition from the Montserrado County. The war and economic crimes court would hold accountable those who committed heinous crimes during the civil war and give justice to Liberia's citizens.
