Despite promises to refrain from the production of uranium metal in the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) agreement, Iran is reportedly progressing in enriching uranium metal, which could be used for nuclear weapon creation. In response to these developments, the United States in support of the 3 top European power-states have once again demanded to halt any further developments. However, Iranian representatives claim that the development in uranium metal creation is needed as fuel for the research reactor. The research Iran is continuing is outside of the JCPOA guidelines and is seen as threatening in fear of Iran creating a deadly nuclear weapon.
